In an era defined by hyper-connectivity, digital notifications, and endless scrolling, the true essence of human connection often gets lost in the noise. This holiday season, Deutsche Telekom, in collaboration with creative powerhouse INGO The Agency, is challenging audiences to rethink what it truly means to give. Launching a pan-European holiday campaign titled Take Time to Connect, the telecommunications giant is shifting the focus away from material consumerism and onto the profound value of undivided attention, empathy, and presence.
The centerpiece of the campaign is a deeply moving, emotionally resonant short film that captures the chaotic energy of a modern family Christmas. Amidst the flurry of wrapping paper, overlapping conversations, and glowing smartphone screens, a young girl named Lily observes something everyone else has overlooked. Her grandfather is physically present at the gathering, yet his thoughts are miles away, weighed down by memories of his late wife and the holidays they once shared. Recognizing that her grandfather is quietly adrift in his own grief, Lily bypasses the digital distractions of the room and reaches out to him.
The narrative is elevated by the inclusion of Cyndi Lauper’s iconic 1980s ballad, Time After Time. The song’s poignant lyrics and tear-inducing nostalgia underscore the unwavering bond between Lily and her grandfather, serving as an auditory reminder of the importance of standing by those we love, especially when they feel most isolated.
A Technological Milestone in Visual Storytelling

Beyond its emotional resonance, the Deutsche Telekom campaign represents a significant technical achievement in modern advertising. The film and its accompanying visual assets were brought to life through a groundbreaking production model that bridges traditional filmmaking with cutting-edge artificial intelligence.
Devised by INGO in partnership with director Léo Cannone of Feel Films, the project utilized the expertise of generative AI studio New Forest. Rather than relying on traditional live-action shooting for every scene or relying on generic stock imagery, the creative team built an entirely bespoke visual world, a rich cast of characters, and an expansive campaign imagery library made using advanced generative AI technologies. This approach allowed the production team to craft a distinct, stylized, and cohesive aesthetic that mirrors the warmth and nostalgia of classic holiday storytelling while pushing the boundaries of how commercial art is produced in the digital age.
The initiative rolled out across multiple channels starting November 2, 2026, spanning television, cinema, digital platforms, digital out-of-home (DOOH) displays, and social media networks. Supported by localized activation strategies, the campaign is reaching audiences across ten key European markets: Austria, Croatia, Czechia, Hungary, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Poland, Slovakia, Germany, and Greece.
Corporate Vision and Strategic Objectives
The launch of Take Time to Connect aligns with Deutsche Telekom’s broader corporate ethos, which has long emphasized the power of telecommunications to bridge distances. However, this campaign deliberately reframes the company’s mission from technological enablement to emotional enablement.

Ulrich Klenke, Chief Brand Officer at Deutsche Telekom, elaborated on the societal motivations driving the campaign. "Feeling connected to others is essential to a society in which people can understand and support one another," Klenke stated. "With Take Time to Connect, we want to encourage everyone to slow down and be there for the people around them."
This sentiment was echoed by Elias Modig, Senior Copywriter at INGO The Agency, who highlighted the fundamental human truth underpinning the creative concept. "Connecting people is at the heart of Deutsche Telekom’s purpose, and this Christmas we’re celebrating the small acts that make a connection count: someone noticing. Someone reaching out. And how one connection can make a world of a difference," Modig explained. "Our campaign is built on a simple human insight: when we slow down and give someone our attention, any moment can become magical."
The Broader Context of Holiday Advertising
Deutsche Telekom’s campaign enters a crowded seasonal marketplace where brands traditionally vie for consumer attention through high-budget cinematic spectacles. In recent years, industry analysts have observed a distinct shift in holiday marketing away from overt product promotion and toward emotional storytelling that addresses mental health, loneliness, and social isolation.
During the winter holiday season, rates of reported loneliness often spike, particularly among older populations who may be navigating grief or living far from family. By focusing the narrative on intergenerational empathy and the silent grief of an elderly widower, Deutsche Telekom taps into a widespread cultural anxiety. The campaign mirrors similar purpose-driven initiatives by major global brands—such as L.L. Bean’s focus on the outdoors as a space for mental clarity—which argue that time, focus, and genuine human presence constitute the most valuable currency one can offer.

Implications for the Advertising and AI Industries
From an industry perspective, the integration of generative AI by Feel Films and New Forest marks a notable milestone in high-end commercial production. As generative tools mature, advertising agencies are increasingly exploring their potential to streamline production workflows, expand creative horizons, and execute complex visual concepts with unprecedented speed.
However, the success of the Deutsche Telekom campaign demonstrates that technology alone is insufficient without a strong emotional core. By pairing state-of-the-art generative imagery with a universally understood human story—and grounding the visual mood in the comforting nostalgia of an 80s classic—the creative team ensured that the technological innovation served the narrative rather than overshadowing it.
As the campaign continues its multi-market rollout throughout the holiday season, its ultimate success will be measured not only by metrics of reach and engagement, but by its ability to inspire tangible behavioral shifts. In a world where digital notifications constantly demand our gaze, Deutsche Telekom’s holiday message offers a timely and much-needed reminder: the most meaningful connection we can make this Christmas is simply to look up, pay attention, and be truly present.
